POLICY AND PLANNING DIVISION
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
a) To facilitate policy analysis, intelligence and research for
policy formulation, and decision making in the Ministry;
b) To plan and coordinate trade and investment programmes and
projects in the Ministry; and,
c) To monitor and evaluate the Ministry's programmes and activities.
STRATEGIES
Policy and Planning Division
a) Develop, analyze and review policies, strategies and Acts
for the Ministry;
b) Establish and operationalise the Competition and Fair Trading
Commission for Malawi;
c) Provide policy advice, interface and direction for the effective
implementation of Ministry's programmes;
d) Develop and coordinate the implementation of trade and investment
capacity building programmes in the Ministry;
e) Coordinate and develop trade and investment programmes and
projects;
f) Develop and coordinate a business intelligence and dissemination
mechanism for the benefit of the private sector;.
g) Coordinate negotiations and signing of Investment Promotion
and Protection Agreements (IPPAs) and Double Taxation Agreements
(DTAs); and,
h) Monitor and evaluate Ministry's programmes and activities.
Statistical Section
a) Generate and analyse trade and investment data for the Ministry;
b) Maintain and manage databases of Ministry's programmes and
activities; and,
c) Generate and manage database for SMEs.
Business Intelligence and Information Management Systems Section
a) Establish, and manage dissemination of information in the
Ministry.
b) Maintain and upgrade information and communications technology
in the Ministry; and,
c) Generate and analyze trade and investment intelligence.
